World card making day giveaway

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Saturday 1st October 2016 is World Card Making Day and to celebrate I thought I would have a giveaway.

I recently took part in the Cupcakes and Friends Creative Challenge, we had to make a card from this sketch.

I am not usually an indecisive person but on this occasion I just couldn't decide which Designer Series paper (patterned paper)  to use so I ended up making five cards!

Here are the cards I made

Pootler's Design Team September, Week 5

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

This is the final week of the September Pootler's Design Team challenge. I've had so much fun and I have thoroughly enjoyed created these projects.

I decided to use the Pumpkin face for my final project. We always get lots of trick or treaters on 31st October and I always make special boxes for the children who live near us.

Curvy Keepsake Box, Pumpkin pie, Layering Circle framelits

I love the curvy keepsake boxes, they look so special. I made a little tag to hang off the handle and attached it with some metallic thread as I thought that looked spider web'ish.

I heat set the face on the box with clear embossing powder, you can just see shine on the second photo.

Pumpkin pie cardstock, You're my #1 Hero stamp set

I will fill them with chocolates. Now I just need to make five more!

Pootler's Design Team September, Week 4

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I can't believe it's week 4 of this challenge already.
Today I decided to use the 'You put the Merry in my Christmas' stamp to make a spinner card.

You're my #1 Hero stamp set, Cherry Cobbler, Gold heat setting

I started with a card base of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I then die cut the circles out of another piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Stampin' Up! brought out a sliding star framelits die in the Annual Catalogue which makes these cards so easy to make. If you don't have the framelits you can use the layering circles framelits instead.

I stamped the sentiment on the bottom in versamark ink and heat embossed in gold. I also stamped the second smallest snowflake from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set on the circle and heat set that in gold embossing powder. I also dipped the edge of the circle in my versamark ink so I could give it a gold edge.  Then I stamped the smallest snow flake and punched out using the matching punch.

You put the Merry in my Christmas, Flurry of Wishes stamp set

I used a piece of This Christmas DSP for the background. I then put it all together using the new Foam strips which makes it very quick and easy to assemble. I used two 5p pieces to make the spinner element and trimmed the edges off a Stampin' Dimensional before adhering them together.

I'm really pleased with this card. What do you think?

Business card holders

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

When I was at the Cuerden Valley Park Farmers and Craft Market in June I was chatting to Martin who owns Mucky Paws Pet Photography, he loved my business card holders and asked if I could make some for him.  Martin takes fabulous pet photos and his website is here

These are the holders I made for him.

Stampin' Up!, Whisper White, Night of Navy cardstock

I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

My Dad came to visit me and liked the holders so much he ordered two for himself. Check in next week to see them.

Pootler's Design Team September, Week 3

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Today is the third week in this months Pootler's Design Team challenge.

I just couldn't enter this challenge without making a chocolate box and the Valentine sentiment was just perfect for that.

Valentine chocolate box, Real Red, Stitched satin ribbon

I used Real Red cardstock for the box and then a layer of whisper white. I used the Hearts and Stars Decorative mask and sponged the hearts using Real Red ink. I stamped the sentiment using Real Red ink onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut it using the sweet and sassy framelit dies. I then die cut a larger heart in Real Red and covered it with my Wink of Stella pen to give it a nice sparkle.

A little Valentine Sweetness, Sweet and Sassy framelit dies, Wink of Stella

Then was the difficult part, tying a nice bow! The Stitched Satin Ribbon is absolutely beautiful and I think it looks fabulous on this box.

I will fill it with handmade heart shaped chocolates next year!

Pootlers Team Blog Hop September 2016

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Thank you so much for joining us for our Pootler's Team Blog Hop! This is the first time I've been brave enough to join the hop. This time we are celebrating the launch of the Autum / Winter catalgoue which went live on Thursday 1st September 2016.

Pootlers Blog Hop, Autumn Winter Catalogue Launch Spinner card

I am rather addicted to making spinner cards at the moment so I jumped at the chance to make another for this challenge using the new Candy Cane Lane DSP. When I first saw this paper I thought the spiral sweet would be perfect as the spinner element and it works perfectly.

Spinner card, Candy Cane Lane DSP, Real Red, Gingerbread man

I started off with a base of Thick Whisper White and used the spiral sweet paper as a backing. Stampin' Up! brought out a sliding star framelits die in the Annual Catalogue which makes these cards so easy to make. If you don't have the framelits you can use the layering circles framelits instead. I fussy cut one of the gorgeous gingerbread men out and adhered in to the middle of the circle. I use 5p pieces for the spinner element, they work perfectly.

Embellished Ornament dies, Real Red, Gold embossing, Thinking of you at Christmas

I used the sentiment from the Embellished Ornaments stamp set which  I heat embossed in gold before layering it onto a piece of DSP, I adhered it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Don't forget to use the buttons below to continue hopping, 'Next' will take you to Lynn and 'Previous' takes you to Fiona

Pootler's Design Team September, Week 2

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Welcome to week 2 of the September Pootler;s Design Team Challenge using the My Hero stamp set.

This week I have chosen to use the umbrella which has the words, 'heard you've been under the weather' and also the sentiment 'hope tomorrow finds you feeling better'

You're my #1 Hero stamp set, umbrella, heard you've been under the weather

I started with a card base of Thick Whisper white, my first mat was in Elegant Eggplant. The second mat was Whisper White, I used this to sponge some sky using Soft Sky ink and the tree builder punch as a cloud. I really love this technique, you can get some amazing backgrounds using it.

I stamped the umbrella on Whisper White using Elegant Eggplant ink and then fussy cut it out. There are coordinating dies for umbrella but I dont't have them, yet. I'm not very good at fussy cutting but this was really easy. I stamped the handle first in versamark and then in Elegant Eggplant and added silver heat embossing powder just to the stem. I wanted to give some definition to the umbrella so decided to cut out the handle and the top bit (not quite sure what that's called!).  I adhered the handle and the top bit straight onto the clouds and put the umbrella on Stampin' Dimensionals. before stamping the second sentiment directly on the card.

Heard you've been under the weather, elegant eggplant

You're my #1 Hero stamp set, Hope tomorrow finds you feeling better

I finished off the card by sponging a few clouds on the inside.

It's week 3 next week and what stamp will I be using? Well you'll have to stop by next week to find out! Or you could subscribe to my newsletter so you don't miss a blog post.

Pootler's design team September, week 1

Jillian Selwood Purple Jelly Designs Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I'm so excited to announce that I have been chosen to take part in the Pootler's Design Team for the month of September. My upline, Sam Hammond, sent the September team a stamp set which we have to use to create a project each week.

The stamp set we received is called My Hero and here it is. Not one I would have chosen myself but there are lots of fabulous sentiment and images and I cannot wait to get creating.

The first thing that jumped out at me was the shield with the sentiment 'you are my #1 Hero' and I immediately thought of a card a boy would buy for his Father.

You're my #1 Hero night of navy Guy greetings

I do find masculine cards very difficult to make normally but this brilliant sentiment made it so easy. I used a card base of Thick Whisper White and a mat of Night of Navy which is stamped with the shield stamp in Night of Navy ink. I used a piece of Floral Boutique DSP for the centre of the card. Using Night of Navy ink I stamped the image onto Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut it out. There is a shield punch but I don't have it, yet. When I placed the shield on top of the DSP it didn't quite look right so I adhered it to a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and fussy cut that out leaving a small border. I then attached it to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

You're my #1 Hero, night of navy Floral Boutique DSP

Using two stamps from the Guy Greetings stamp set I used versamark ink to stamp 'Dad' and 'Happy Birthday' and heat embossed with White embossing powder.

Guy Greetings Happy birthday You're my #1 hero Night of navy

To complete the card I stamped the shield again on the inside.

I'm really pleased with the end result and hope you like it too.
