Bokeh Technique

Jillian Selwood Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I have watched quite a few You Tube tutorials on the Bokeh Technique and have been meaning to try it for ages. I recently watched this tutorial by Sacha van de Kerkhof which inspired me to make these cards.

This is the first one I made

I used a sponge rather than a dauber which has left scratchy marks but I actually like it as I think it gives some extra texture to it. Doesn't it look moody?!

The second card I made was for a Tic Tac Toe challenge so I could only use three colours; White, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo with white embossing powder for the sentiment. I also used daubers for this card so no scratchy marks. Which one do you prefer?

I will certainly be using this technique again but will I be using sponges or daubers...I'm undecided so watch this space...

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.

Big Birthday cards

Jillian Selwood Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

We have some 'big' birthdays coming up this year and I thought that big birthdays deserve special cards.

The first card I made is for my Brother in Law who is turning 60 this year. I followed Jan Brown's You Tube tutorial, click here to watch it. Jan's original card was a Christmas card but it can be made for any occasion. Before you put the card in the envelope you turn the white circle round and round so when it is opened it spins. Looks really effective and would be perfect as a card for a child.

This is the first time I have 'distressed' a card and I really love the technique.

The second card I made is for a friend who is turning 70. This card was cased from Linda Parker of Papercraft with Crafty. Linda's You Tube tutorial can be found here.

This is an interactive / kinetic card as the 70 moves round 360 degs. It's very clever how it's put together and not too difficult to make either.

I'm not sure it is obvious that the 70 turns so I think I will have to put a little label on it saying 'turn me'! I do love the play on words with the sentiment saying 'look who's turning'.

Massive thanks to Jan Brown and Linda Parker for their excellent tutorials.

And a massive thanks for you all for stopping by this week to read my blog, I do hope you've enjoyed it.  Until next time.

I've been watching Jan Brown's You Tube tutorials again, I love these post it note holders, wouldn't they look fabulous on any desk? Click here to watch Jan's tutorial.

As with all 3D projects I can't just make one! I bought a pack of 8 post it notes so decided to use them all. I'm very pleased with how they have turned out. They looked fabulous on my stall last month and I have a some left over for my next craft fair.

Double Twisted Easel Cards

I love making cards that are just a little bit different so when I saw Jan Brown make the Double Twisted Easel card I knew I had to make one or six of them. Please click here to go to Jan's website.

Whilst they look very difficult to make by following Jan's expert instructions they are relatively easy. I do think I will need to enclose instructions on how to display them though as it is not that obvious.

This is what they look like closed and ready to post.

The sentiment is raised up on stampin' dimensionals to hold the easels in place.

And here is a close up of the flowers, I just love these flowers they are so life like.
