Merry Christmas

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Well it's nearly Christmas and I thought I would share with you the three Christmas Cards I sent out this year.

I always make a card for friends and family with children and then another card for adult friends and family.

Isn't this Rudolf so cute, I love him.

Rudolph, Punch Art Christmas Card, Owl builder punch

The adult card started off like this, I quickly realised that I was going to have lots of red bauble cutouts so decided to make two version of this card.

Gold foil card, Embellished Ornaments thinlets

Christmas Card, Sassy Salutations, Gold Embossing power

I was really pleased with how all three of my cards turned out and hopefully the receipients were too.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading my blog this year. I will be taking a break now until the New Year when I look forward to sharing with you more of my creations.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge December

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

The lovely Amanda Charlesworth designed our sketch this month and here it is:

My first thought when I saw the sketch was Oh My God what on earth am I doing to make. Then I had an idea, which didn't work so I tried something else, which also didn't work. At that point I was getting to close to giving in. Not one to be defeated I then started to look through my box of die cuts and punched shapes to see if anything would work and I came up with this design.

Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Swirly Scribbles Thinlet Dies

I started off with a card base of Blushing Bride and cut a small piece of Melon Mambo with the wavy lines die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlet dies to cut the wave. When I put it on the card I thought it looked a little plain so I ran it through the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (that's a bit of a mouthful). Then I added some of my favourite flowers and leaves from the Botanical Builder framelits. The happy birthday sentiment came from the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by today, I'm actually really pleased with the end result, I do hope you like it too.

Crafty Cupcakes Crafty Challenges for October

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I took part in two card challenges in October with the Crafty Cupcakes group. The first challenge was to make a card using only the colours Wild Wasabi, Delightful Dijon, Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze and either Whisper White or Very Vanilla. They are probably my least favourite colours and as I didn't have any of the inks I needed to be very creative!

I recently watched a video by Jennifer McGuire and she made a card base out of small strips of different coloured cardstock. I really wanted to try it out so here was my opportunity.

This is the card I made.

Creative Challenge card, Wild Wasabi, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip

I cut out the word thanks from the strippy cardbase and also from a piece of Chocolate Chip Cardstock and then placed the Chocolate Chip piece in the space on the strippy cardbase.  I thought it looked ok and certainly fitted the brief but to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it.

So I decided to use the strippy 'thanks' cut out on the Chocolate Chip cardstock and then mounted this on a piece of Delightful Dijon and Cajun Craze cardstock. I was really, really pleased with this, I just love the effect of the strippy 'thanks'.

Thanks, Autumn colours

The second challenge was to make a card for a Fall Theme.  Fall, or Autumn for me is all about leaves and the different colours so I had to use some leaf die cuts which are distressed with different inks. I'm really pleased how this turned out.

Pootlers & Artful Stampers Blog Hop December 2016

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I am so excited to take part in the first Pootlers and Artful Stampers Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from Australia and the UK who have joined together to bring you this very special blog hop.

We didn't have a theme except to use any products from the Annual or Autumn Winter Catalogues.  Here's my creation.

Candy Cane Lane DSP, Merry Mice Stamp set, Lots of Labels framelits, International Blog Hop

I do love interactive cards and I think the easel card is one of my favourites. I've also used my favourite Christmas DSP - Candy Cane Lane and my favourite Christmas stamp set - Merry Mice. So it's an absolute winner for me!

I used Real Red cardstock for the base then I layered the top with the Crumb Cake DSP. I layered the bottom with the same pattern of DSP but with the Real Red backgroud.

I stamped the three mice on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and added some little stars around the edge which I heat embossed in gold embossing powder.

Merry Mice Stamp Set, Crumb Cake, Gold embossed stars

I die cut this out with the Lots of Labels framelit dies together with a piece of Real Red.

Then I heat embossed the sentiment 'Wishing you a Festive Season' from the Merry Mice stamp set.

Real Red Cardstock, Wishing you a Festive Season, Candy Cane Lane DSP

This was layered onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the smaller Lots of Labels framelit dies.

Thanks for visiting my blog today and I do hope you like my project. Please leave me a comment below.

This was my card, what do you think? I quite like it.

The card I received from Keila Calver is absolutely brilliant, I love it and here it is.

The theme for October is Fluffy, frills and Pink, this is going to be a difficult one for me as I really don't do fluffy, frilly or pink!

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.

Crafty Cupcakes crafting session

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

As promised two weeks ago, this is what we got up to on the Sunday after OnStage at Telford.

I am a honorary member of the Crafty Cupcakes group which is Lea Denton's group, we hired a room in the centre of Telford on the Sunday so we could have a crafty get together. There were eight of us all together.

We started off by making this beautiful Advent Calendar Christmas Tree. Lea, cut out all the pieces for us all, this must have taken her days.

Presents and Pinecones DSP, Advent Calendar, Tree, Emerald Envy Cardstock, Delightful Dijon Cardstock

I ran out of time to finish mine so brought all the boxes home and completed it the following week. I have filled all the boxes with surprises and my lucky husband, Gary, will be the receipient on 1st December.

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge November

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.  Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

This is the sketch which was designed by the lovely Anna Krol.

What a great sketch it is. I decided to use one of the cats from the Pretty Kitty stamp set. All these cats are so pretty.  One of the things I like about making cards is the fact that you can send a card to someone for no reason at all, 'just because' you can!

When I saw the sentiment on the Vertical Greeting stamp set I just knew I had to buy the set and it was just perfect for this card.

Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Pretty Kitty, Vertical Greetings

I used a base of Pacific Point which is a beautiful vibrant blue. Whisper White layer on top with three pieces of cardstock in Soft Sky, Marina Mist and Pacific Point. I adhered the two vertical strips to the card and then decided that the darker one needed something to lift it - I just about managed to stamp the stars on it without getting ink everywhere!

I'm really pleased with how the card has turned out. Thanks Anna a brilliant sketch.

Stampin' Up! OnStage Telford November 2016

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Last week I went to the Stampin' Up! OnStage event at Telford with 399 other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. We had a fabulous time. The highlight of the day for me was meeting all the people I interact with on a regular basis on Facebook and have never met. Far too many to mention here but it was amazing to meet you all.

Another hightlight was the swaps. You may remember last week I showed you the swaps I'd made, well here are the swaps I received. I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful things people made. I've also got lots of chocolates and sweeties to last me a little while!

You wouldn't think it would be possible to top the fabulous day on Saturday, well I did on Sunday but you'll have to come back in two weeks time to find out what I did!!

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.

Stampin' Up! OnStage convention Telford November 2016

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Grateful bunch stamp set, After eight mints, Envelope punch board project

When this blog post foes live I will be at Telford, meeting up with 399 other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.

As is the norm at all Stampin' Up! gatherings, we take swaps with us, as many as we like, and then we swap our swaps with other people. I think it's brilliant and can't wait to see what I receive.

I've made 70 of my swaps, they are an After Eight Mint in a small envelope tied with linen thread or bakers twine and stamped with the perfect sentiment - You are totally awesome.  I have used a mixture of Moroccan DSP, Presents and Pinecones DSP and This Christmas DSP to make the envelopes.

This Christmas DSP, Moroccan DSP, Presents and Pinecones DSP

You are totally awesome Moroccan DSP This Christmas DSP

I'm getting excited now just typing about it. It will be so fantastic to meet so many people I have got to know so well over the past year through Facebook and YouTube. How strange it will be to see them face to face.

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.

Business card holders for N&G Bookkeeping and Accountancy Services

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

N&G Bookkeeping & Accountancy Services, personalised business card and leaflet holders

The lovely Nicole Middleton visited my stall at the Cuerden Valley Park Farmers and Craft market recently and asked if I would be able to make her some business card holders, her business cards are slightly bigger than mine so I needed to change the dimensions slightly. We talked about the design I could use and decided it would be better to use the company logo as the background. I offered to make a sample holder for her to see if she liked it.

Fortunately she did like it and also asked if I would be able to make some holders to display her leaflets. I adapted the business card holder and was really pleased with them.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge October

Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Jillian Selwood

The lovely Sally Shaw of Sally's Stampers designed our sketch this month and here it is:

This was a tough one for me, sorry Sally, and I didn't like the first card I created so here's the second attempt.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge October 2016. Watermelon Wonder

I started with a base of Thick Whisper White and then a layer of Watermelon Wonder cardstock. Then I used two pieces from the Watermelon Wonder DSP stack, the text and the flowers. When I put the two strips of cardstock on my card I thought they looked a little lost so I added some 1/8" silver ribbon which I think lifts it.

The sentiment is from the Garden in Bloom stamp set.

Card swap August

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

The theme for August's Card swap was Trees and Flowers. I have wanted to make a diarama card for a while now after watching Jan Brown's tutorial. You can view Jan's tutorial here

Diarama card, Lovely as a Tree, May Flowers framelits, Botanical Builder framelits

It does look rather complicated but was so easy and I am so pleased with the finished result. I die cut out lots of small flowers from the Botanical Builder framelit dies and the May flowers framelit dies in Sweet Sugarplum and Peekaboo Peach cardstock and used the new enamel dots in the centre.

The trees are from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set.

The card I received from Nicky May is beautiful. I love how she has cut the different coloured frames, I will have to CASE that idea!

Next month the theme is to make a punch art card for a boy.

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.
