Stampin' Up! 10th Wedding Anniversary card

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

It was our 10th Wedding Anniversary last week and I wanted to make a very special card for my wonderful husband. I love this concertina box card from Samantha Clayton of Mixed Up Crafts, you can find her video here

Happy Anniversary Concertina Box card, Elegant Eggplant

I started off with Elegant Eggplant cardstock to make the box. The front panel is stamped in Elegant Eggplant ink using the Marbled stamp. I then cut out a white heart using the Sweet and Sassy Framelit dies and stamped Happy Anniversary.

I used Whisper White cardstock to make the concertina and layered with more Marbled pieces. I used more heart dies to decorate the four inside panels and the large number dies for the 10.

I also printed out two of our favourite wedding photos for inside the box.

Stampin' Up! Poppin' Box Cube card

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Happy Birthday thinlit die, Poppin' Cube box card

My lovely husband celebrated his birthday at the beginning of January so I made him a Poppin' card. I watched a You Tube video by the very talented Gemma Clarke of Made By Gemma last February and have wanted to make one since. You can find Gemma's link here, please check it out.

I started with a base of our favourite colour, Elegant Eggplant and as SU don't have any DSP with Elegant Eggplant I decided to make my own. I used one of the stamps from the Timeless Textures stamp set and stamped at an angle all over the Whisper White Layer. I the used the Happy Birthday die to cut out an Elegant Eggplant sentiment which I cut in half.

Large Letters Framelit dies, Elegant Eggplant, Touches of Texture Stamp Set

Thanks to Gemma's great tutorial and the PDF instructions, the box was very straightforward to put together. I used the large letters framelits to cut out a G, A, R and Y which I adhered on the four sides of the cube.

I'm pleased to say that Gary loved his card and it still has pride of place on our mantelpiece.

Sale-A-Bration Lots of Lavender Stamp Set, Decorated Candle

Back in November I got together with the Crafty Cupcakes for a crafting day after the Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Birmingham.  Our lovely Gemma Clarke showed us how to stamp onto candles using tissue paper. I'd never done this before and have to say I'm a bit hooked now. How fabulous to be able to personalise a candle with whatever image or sentiment you want.

Sale-A-Bration Lots of Lavender Stamp Set, Wisteria Wonder

Here I've used the Lots of Lavender stamp set, I coloured the image using the Stampin' Write Markers in Wisteria Wonder and Old Olive, the ribbon was coloured in Elegant Eggplant. This candle now sits in our living room and matches our decor perfectly!

Stampin' Up! Tranquil Tulips Birthday Card

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I have been sending lots of birthday cards this month, someone turning 60 and a special crafting friend who turned 70 as well as eight other people who celebrated their birthday this month.

My birthday was back in August and I received a beautiful card from Donna Willows, a fellow Pootler, using the Tranquil Tulips stamp set. I decided to case this card for my October birthday cards. I have made it in various different colourways and just love each of them.

Tranquil Tulips, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Birthday card

Although I must admit to perhaps liking this purple one a little more than the others, not sure why that should be!

Tranquil Tulips, Perfect Plum, Rich Razzleberry, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder

I usually steer away from two step stamping but this stamp set is so easy and very forgiving, I just love the watercolour effect.

Tranquil Tulips, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Emerald Envy

What do you think?

Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Rose Red, Old Olive, Tranquil Tulips

Which is your favourite colourway?

Don't forget to keep clicking the buttons below so you can see all the other beautiful creations that my fellow Pootlers have made.

Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight card

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I love receiving handmade cards so jumped at the chance to join Fiona Whitehead and her group called Pootlers RAK. RAK standing for Random Act of Kindness. The idea is that you send a handmade card to as many people in the group as you like.

In July I sent out three cards and this is the design I chose.

Daisy Delight, Random Act of Kindness

The lovely Sacha Van de Kerkhof of Stampin' Sacha, designed this card as a Make and Take months ago and I've been meaning to make it again using new Stampin' Up! products.

Elegant Eggplant meats Lemon Lime Twist, Daisy Delight

The Daisy worked perfectly.

Since the New In Colours came out earlier this year I have wanted to use Elegant Eggplant and Lemon Lime Twist together as I thought they would look stunning. I'm really pleased with how it looks, what do you think?

You are Totally Awesome, Grateful Bunch stamp set, Falling Flowers Stamp set, Touches of Texture stamp set

I used the sadly retired stamp set called Grateful Bunch and the sentiment 'You are totally Awesome' only because all the ladies in the group really are totally awesome.

I was lucky enough to receive two beautiful Cards.

The first from Sarah Crankshaw,

And the second from Deb Steele.

Thanks so much Sarah and Deb I love them both very much.

Avant Garden Sale-A-Bration stamp set

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

The lovely Sacha Van de Kerkhof recently uploaded a YouTube tutorial showing how to make this beautiful card using the Avant Garden Stamp set. You can see the video here This stamp set is available as a freebie until the end of March when you spend £45 on Stampin' Up! Goodies.

I fell in love with the card immediately. The colours are all of my favourites but I also the loved the way the stencil was used to create an almost ombre effect.

As I hadn't used the Avant Garden stamp set it seemed the perfect opportunity to Case Sacha's card. Here are the two I came up with.

Avant Garden Stamp Set, Sale-A-Bration 2017, Thank you Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant

Avant Garden stamp set, Sale-A-Bration 2017, One big meaning Stamp set

Both slightly different from Sacha's and I'm not really sure which I prefer. What do you think? Do you have a favourite, please leave me a comment below, I'd love to know what you think.

Bokeh Technique

Jillian Selwood Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I have watched quite a few You Tube tutorials on the Bokeh Technique and have been meaning to try it for ages. I recently watched this tutorial by Sacha van de Kerkhof which inspired me to make these cards.

This is the first one I made

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I used a sponge rather than a dauber which has left scratchy marks but I actually like it as I think it gives some extra texture to it. Doesn't it look moody?!

The second card I made was for a Tic Tac Toe challenge so I could only use three colours; White, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo with white embossing powder for the sentiment. I also used daubers for this card so no scratchy marks. Which one do you prefer?

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I will certainly be using this technique again but will I be using sponges or daubers...I'm undecided so watch this space...

Thank you for stopping by this week and reading my blog, I do hope you’ve enjoyed it. Until next week.

Simply Sketched Saturday May Challenge

Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Jillian Selwood

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

The lovely Kathleen Rintoul-Waite designed our sketch this month and here it is:

When I saw the four layers I knew I wanted to do an ombre effect. Purple is my favourite colour, just in case you didn't realise! So I went with three shades of purple, the difficulty was deciding on going from dark to light or light to dark. In the end I thought the light to dark was more striking so here is my interpretation.

Stampin' Up! Botanical Builder dies elegant eggplant perfect plum wisteria wonder

I have used a Thick Whisper White base, the next layer is Wisteria Wonder, then Perfect Plum and then on top is Elegant Eggplant. The ribbon is Wisteria Wonder and the flowers are die cut with the Botanical Builder framelit dies. I love white heat embossing on dark colours it just looks amazing.
