Jillian Selwood Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

It was my Dad's 80th Birthday last month and we had quite a few celebrations for him to mark this milestone.

I wanted to make a card that was just a little bit special and something he hadn't seen before so after looking on You Tube for inspiration I finally found the perfect card to make. Many thanks to my wonderful friend Sacha van de Kerkhof for the fabulous tutorial which you can find here. 

The thing I really love about the card is that fact that it looks quite plain and understated on the front. 

But when you open it up it really has the wow factor.

Not quite sure why but my Dad likes frogs! Apologies I forgot to photograph the card before I wrote it so I had to smudge my writing.

The card looks really complicated but was relatively easy to put together. Because of the thickness of the card I needed to make a special envelope for it, see photo below. I also made boxes for the two presents I bought Dad and decorated them in the same way.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge March 2017

The lovely Sally Shaw designed our sketch this month and here it is:

 I thought I'd be a bit rebellious this month and use balloons instead of circles! Here's my take on the sketch

I used the Lift me up stamp set and stamped the two smaller balloons in Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach and then die cut them out using the Up and Away thinlit dies. I used the Carried Away DSP for the banners. I used the sentiment from the Lift me up Stamp set. I finished the card off with some clouds and some Wink of Stella. 

I'm rather pleased with the finished card and I hope you like it too.

February Card Swap

The theme for February's card swap was Valentines. Here is the card I sent to Janice.

Regular readers of my blog will recognise this as the red version of the card I sent to my Husband for Valentines. Whilst I like the red version the purple is still my favourite, but no surprises there!

Avant Garden Sale-A-Bration stamp set

The lovely Sacha Van de Kerkhof recently uploaded a YouTube tutorial showing how to make this beautiful card using the Avant Garden Stamp set. You can see the video here This stamp set is available as a freebie until the end of March when you spend £45 on Stampin' Up! Goodies.

I fell in love with the card immediately. The colours are all of my favourites but I also the loved the way the stencil was used to create an almost ombre effect.

As I hadn't used the Avant Garden stamp set it seemed the perfect opportunity to Case Sacha's card. Here are the two I came up with.

Both slightly different from Sacha's and I'm not really sure which I prefer. What do you think? Do you have a favourite, please leave me a comment below, I'd love to know what you think.

New Baby

Jillian Selwood, Purple Jelly Designs, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

We have a new baby in the family so I just had to make a special card and also a box for the little romper suit I bought for him.

It was a great excuse to use the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and matching punch again. I also used the new Any Occasion stamp set for both the sentiments.

I always enjoy making boxes and this one was no different.

You've got to have a matching tag so here's mine. 

And finally a close up of the card which I decorated inside as well.
